Christoph Meinel is one of the two founders of the German University of Digital Science, Germany’s first fully digital university. Following state accreditation, the university began academic operations on April 1, 2025, offering one-year MBA programs in Digital Transformation and Digital Technology, as well as two-year Master’s programs in Applied Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Advanced Digital Reality, and Digital Leadership.
At German UDS, Prof. Meinel shapes the academic vision and digital-first university model, drawing on decades of experience in digital engineering, online education, and research-driven teaching. Prior to founding German UDS, he led the Hasso Plattner Institute for Digital Engineering at the University of Potsdam for nearly twenty years and served as Professor of Computer Science and Founding Dean of the Faculty of Digital Engineering.

The module focuses on the nature of digital media and how they are encoded and compressed, the fundamentals of the Internet, the WWW, and emerging digital technologies.
