German University of Digital Science - German's First Digital University Start Teaching

Potsdam, March 31, 2025 - The German University of Digital Science (German UDS) will start teaching on April 1, 2025. As Germany's first fully digital university, this launch marks a milestone in the German and international higher education landscape.

The digital study program starts with the Welcome Weeks, a two-week orientation program that offers newly enrolled students living in India, Ghana, Kenya, Cambodia and Ireland, among other countries, a smooth start to their academic careers. The goal of these weeks is to familiarize digital students with the new university's mission, academic culture and resources, introduce them to the virtual curriculum to be mastered, and foster a true sense of community in virtual collaboration.

Minister of Science Manja Schüle Presents State Recognition to German UDS

Potsdam, February 7, 2025 - The German University of Digital Science officially received state recognition from the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture of the State of Brandenburg. In a festive ceremony, Minister of Science Dr. Manja Schüle presented the official certificate to the presidents of the university, Prof. Dr. Christoph Meinel and Prof. Dr. Mike Friedrichsen.

The German UDS is thus the first state-recognized university in Europe to offer a fullfledged German university degree exclusively digitally. With its innovative concept of fully digital teaching, the university is aimed at students worldwide and enables academic education regardless of location.

German UDS Receives Official State Recognition.

On February 14, 2025, German UDS received official state recognition from the Ministry of Science, Research and Culture. This accreditation marks a pivotal moment in our institution's history and validates our innovative approach to digital education.

Following this momentous achievement, we will commence our academic operations on April 1, 2025. Our inaugural programs will include MBA and Master's degrees in cutting-edge fields such as Digital Technologies, Digital Transformation, Advanced Digital Reality, Applied AI, Cybersecurity, and Digital Leadership.

German University of Digital Science: Campus goes digital

Potsdam, 26. Juli 2024 – Am 1. Oktober 2024 startet die erste vollständig digital arbeitende Universität Deutschlands mit den ersten MBA- und Masterstudiengängen sowie Open Courses und Micro-Degree Programs, die Fachleute für den digitalen Wandel in aller Welt ausbilden. Das ist die Vision der Informatikprofessoren Mike Friedrichsen und Christoph Meinel. Die Initiatoren des innovativen Digital-Universitäts-Konzepts erwarten die Genehmigung als staatlich anerkannte Universität im ersten Quartal 2025. Standort der privaten und gemeinnützigen Hochschule „German University of Digital Science“ (German UDS) ist die Medienstadt Babelsberg in Potsdam. Hier befindet sich das Headquarter sowie das sogenannte Maschinenhaus, das die Server für den Lehrbetrieb beherbergt.

Juli 2024 – Die neu gegründete German University of Digital Science (German UDS) startet ihren Podcast „From Campus to Cyber“, der die digitale Transformation der Universität begleitet und tiefgehende Einblicke in die neuesten Forschungen und Trends der German UDS bietet. Der Podcast „From Campus to Cyber“ bereichert das digitale Angebot der German UDS. Der Podcast wird 14-tägig ausgestrahlt und behandelt Themen rund um die neuesten Entwicklungen in der digitalen Bildung und Forschung. „Dieser Podcast dient als Plattform für den Austausch von Ideen und ist ein weiteres Tool, mit dem wir alle an digitalen Themen Interessierte informieren und inspirieren wollen“, sagt Prof. Dr. Mike Friedrichsen, Gründungspräsident der German UDS.

Grand Opening of the CloudHouse Headquarter

On June 26, 2024, German UDS celebrated the official opening of its CloudHouse Headquarter, a 1700 square meter facility serving as the university’s headquarters. The opening event, attended by 150 guests, showcased various “experience islands,” including the German-UDS.Academy and the Education Metaverse. These islands allowed attendees to explore the university’s cutting-edge virtual environments first-hand.

Launch of German-UDS.Academy and “From Campus to Cyber” Podcast

In May 2024, German UDS introduced the German-UDS.academy, a state-of-the-art interactive digital learning platform designed to make high-quality education accessible worldwide. The platform features interactive videos, discussion forums, and personalized learning paths to enhance the learning experience and skill development of students globally.

Simultaneously, the university launched its bi-weekly podcast, “From Campus to Cyber”, which explores the latest trends and research in digital education. Hosted by Prof. Dr. Mike Friedrichsen, the podcast aims to inform and inspire those interested in the intersection of education and digital innovation. The podcast’s initial episodes delve into topics like AI integration in education and the development of interactive learning platforms.

A Vision for Digital Education

German UDS, established by Professors Mike Friedrichsen and Christoph Meinel, aims to address the global shortage of IT professionals by offering accessible, high-quality digital education. The university is set to begin its academic programs in October 2024, offering one-year MBA programs in Digital Transformation and Digital Technologies, and two-year M.Sc. programs in Digital Leadership, Applied AI, Advanced Digital Reality, and Cybersecurity. These programs are designed to equip students with critical thinking and practical skills necessary for shaping the digital world.
